Allerton Old Schoolroom

Allerton Old Schoolroom is the Village Hall for the villages of Chapel Allerton and Stone Allerton. It is run as a charity, registered with the Charity Commission (Number 900228).   It is available for public hire – bookings can be made using the form at the bottom of this section. The main hall of the Old Schoolroom measures 30 ft x 15 ft, which can accommodate a maximum of 40 people standing, or 30 seated.   It has the following facilities:                              

FACILITIES

  • Sprung wooden floor suitable for dancing (max 30 people)
  • Separate kitchen with hot water. 
  • Disabled-access toilet with wash-basin 
  • Wall-mounted infra-red space heaters   
  • 10 trestle tables, 15 square tables, 60 folding chairs
  • Tableware (crockery, cutlery and glass) for about 30 people 
  • Free wifi (password on the router beside the fire exit door)
  • Portable projector screen

LOCATION:
The Old Schoolroom is located on Allerton Lane, at the eastern end of Stone Allerton village, postcode BS26 2NL. 

ACCESS:
The front door is unlocked and leads into a small hall.  The interior door of the hall is locked – the key is in a small combination safe beside the inner door.  The Booking Secretary has the combination.   There is wheelchair access to the OSR by using the portable ramps in the hall.  

HIRE CHARGES:
For hiring, the day is divided into 3 sessions – Morning (09.00-13.00), Afternoon (13.00- 17.00) and Evening 17.00-23.00.   In consideration of local residents, events are expected to finish by 11 pm.  Charges are as follows:

    Conditions of hire

    The hirer must be at least 18 years old. It is the Hirer's responsibility to:

  • Comply with the legal and local Authority regulations that apply to the type of event you are holding - particularly copyright licensing, showing of films, gaming, sale of alcohol, loud music and food hygiene.

  • Ensure that all those attending are aware of the fire safety provisions for the OSR.

  • Ensure that any equipment brought into the OSR is in good working order and used safely.

  • Keep noise to a reasonable level, in consideration of local residents.

  • Leave the OSR in a clean and today condition, with tables and chairs neatly stacked, Wash, dry and put away all kitchen items, crockery, cutlery and glass. Report any breakages.

  • On leaving, ensure that all electrical equipment including the wall heaters and water heater are off, close all windows and lock the front door, putting the key in the combination lock.
