The Badgworth, Allertons and Rooksbridge oil buying group is a 250+ household-strong syndicate who club together to buy oil in bulk. By doing this we find that we can get a substantial discount. This is typically at least 5p a litre, which on a 2000-litre tank would amount to a total discount of £100, so it’s not to be sneezed at. We also do all the work of shopping around for the best price.
The way that it works is that every couple of months or so, the co-ordinator sends out an email to all the members of the group asking if they wish to join this order. Once all the orders have been collated, our negotiator finds the best price and strikes a deal. There’s no obligation to join a particular order, and in fact I suspect that there are quite a few in our number who have never actually got round to ordering anything through us.
